An informal, wide-ranging discussion and Q&A with Middlebury College alumni.
Mairead Harris (‘2009, Chinese, Spanish) teaches Mandarin in grades 6 to 12 at Stowe Middle & High School in Vermont; she is also the Associate Director of the Middlebury Chinese School, where she previously taught Level One, and a member of the board of the national Chinese Language Teachers’ Association as the K-12 representative.
Colin Penley (‘2005.5, Chinese, Studio Art, Dance) is Associate Dean of Students at Gould Academy in Maine, where he teaches Mandarin; among his many responsibilities at Gould Academy, where he has worked for 14 years, is leading a student trip to China each year.
Alex Klikunas (‘2010, Chinese, French) is the Modern Languages Department Chair at the Nightingale-Bamford School in New York City, a K-12 all-girls school; he teaches Chinese and French to grades 5 through 12, and in his role as department chair, he has a particular focus on initiatives related to global education.
