Welcome to the Winter 2021 Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey Commencement!

Date and Location 

Winter Commencement 2021 will be held in person on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at 1:00PM Pacific Time. The ceremony will be held on the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey campus in the Irvine Auditorium and a reception will follow at the Samson Student Center. For those unable to join in person, there will be virtual and live stream components incorporated into the ceremony. More details forthcoming. 

Guests

Graduates are required to pre-register their guests to attend the ceremony inside the Irvine Auditorium and to attend the reception. Graduates will need to register all their guests on the graduate survey sent out no later than November 19, 2021. Guests will need to email an electronic copy of their vaccination card to the Vice President’s Office at vpmiis@middlebury.edu no later than December 13th. 

Guests with Special Needs

If you have a guest that has a special seating need, i.e., guests in a wheelchair or walker, please send an email to rsvp@middlebury.edu no later than December 13th so seating arrangements may be made for them. 

In Person COVID Guidelines

All guests will be required to submit proof of vaccination and masks will be required to be worn during the ceremony. All guests will be required to submit proof of vaccination prior to the Commencement ceremony and masks will be required to be worn during the ceremony.  

Mandatory Graduating Student Information Meeting

A graduating student information meeting was held via Zoom on November 2. Details about commencement and graduating student speaker nominees presented summaries of their speeches. A recording may be viewed here. Password: !kP74.y5

Regalia

Caps and gowns are NOT required to participate in the commencement ceremony. In lieu of regalia, we encourage graduates to wear traditional cultural dress or appropriate business attire. Details surrounding regalia may be found here
