The Center for Conflict Studies (CCS) is the brainchild of Monterey Institute professor Dr. Pushpa Iyer, a respected scholar and practitioner in the field of conflict studies. The Center focuses on the study and application of the right tools for managing conflicts, approaching them as a vehicle of change. CCS was started with the specific goal to develop programs and publications that would contribute to the theory and practice of the field of conflict studies. With offices in India and the United States, CCS hopes to broaden the scope of its work and widen the network of scholars and practitioners it creates.

The inaugural celebration starts with a panel discussion, “Justice Lost: Personal Stories of Systematic Injustice,” on Monday, November 5 in the Irvine Auditorium and continues with daily events leading up to a three-day conference titled “Religion and Gender: Identity, Conflict and Power,” which begins with the keynote address on Thursday, November 8 and continues through Saturday, November 10.

Check out the CCS webpage for more information about the Center and schedule of events.
