“I chose to attend Advanced Techniques for Court Interpreters because I really wanted to learn from the best – Holly Mikkelson and Esther Navarro-Hall,” says professional Spanish and German interpreter Judy Jenner, who attended the course to prepare for the oral portion of the Federal Court interpreting exam. This popular course held the last week of May is among several specialized translation and interpretation short programs offered by the Monterey Institute of International Studies.

Judy says she had a wonderful week of learning, reporting that “I was challenged, expanded my horizons, focused on my weaknesses, and confirmed my strengths. I learned new techniques and tricks and made several fantastic new friends.” Judy says she would happily return every year for a week like the one she just experienced, and is sure to be back to take a different course another time. “I feel well prepared and ready to use my new skills in a high-pressure testing situation.”
