This January, the American University in Cairo hosted a 10-day long project-management training program in partnership with the Monterey Institute. The program was modeled on the popular Development Project Management Institute (DPMI) program that has been offered several times a year on the Monterey Institute campus, as well as other locations.

Dr. Beryl Levinger, Chair of the MIIS Public Administration program, was the primary instructor at the DPMI training and was joined by Dr. Jennifer Bremer, her counterpart at the AUC. “It was the best program I have been part of,” says professor Levinger, and adds that the mix of Monterey Institute and AUC students made “every conversation a learning opportunity.”

“DPMI Cairo was nothing short of spectacular,” says Tyler Steer (MPA ’11), who participated in the DPMI training program for the second time in the partnership program with AUC. “Every aspect of the course related to real development issues in Egypt, and the practical tools we learned were enhanced simply by the location. This was certainly the most impactful class I have taken at MIIS.”
