Adjunct Faculty

Kate Walker has a Master of Arts in Intercultural Communication (Translation and Interpretation) and Post Graduate Certificate in Conference Interpretation from MIIS and a Bachelor of Arts in French from San Francisco State University. Following graduation from MIIS, she lived for several years in Brussels, Belgium, where she worked as a freelance conference interpreter from German and French in the English booth at the European Union. When not teaching at MIIS, she lives in Gainesville, Florida, where she is a freelance translator with a focus on business and law, including contracts, court pleadings, financial documents, and patents and trademarks. Other subject areas include development aid, European Community matters, medical and pharmaceutical, pollution mitigation and the environment, general technical and scientific texts, and telecommunications. She is a member of the American Translators Association (ATA) and a former member of AIIC (International Association of Conference Interpreters).
