Winter Parking Ban
2018 - 2019

A winter parking ban will be imposed by the Town of Middlebury and Middlebury College beginning Thursday, November 1, 2018 and ending Monday, April 1, 2019. During the ban, the following parking rules will apply:

Middlebury College:

Overnight parking in Faculty/Staff lots is prohibited between the hours of midnight and 6:00 a.m.* Any faculty or staff member who must leave a vehicle on campus during winter ban should observe the following protocol:

· Ensure that the vehicle displays a valid Faculty/Staff parking permit.

· Park the vehicle in the Faculty/Staff/Visitor section of the Mahaney Center for the Arts lot (the outer-most row). Please group vehicles together to facilitate effective snow removal.

· Notify the Department of Public Safety that the vehicle will be parked on campus overnight and indicate how long it will be there.

Vehicles parked in other Faculty/Staff lots after midnight may be towed without prior notice. Violators will be charged $150 for the first tow and $175 for subsequent tows.

* Notice to early arrivals to Faculty/Staff parking lots during winter ban: Facilities Services administrators have requested that Faculty/Staff lots remain empty from midnight to 7:30 a.m. in order to allow for efficient snow removal during or after a snow storm. Faculty and staff arriving on campus prior to 7:30 a.m. during or immediately after a snow storm will be allowed to park in Faculty/Staff parking lots that have already been plowed.

Facilities Services is unable to tow, or pull-out, personal vehicles that become stuck in the snow.

Town of Middlebury:

Parking on town streets and in municipal parking lots is prohibited between midnight and 6:00 a.m. starting on November 1, 2018. Vehicles parked in violation of this ordinance are subject to being ticketed, towed, and impounded without prior notice. Vehicles impounded under this ordinance will not be released until all fines and fees are paid at the Middlebury Police Department.
