Middlebury Institute

To Our Work-Study Students,

I am reaching out today with some important updates regarding the continuance of pay for your work-study positions at the Institute.

We recognize that the COVID-19 pandemic is likely to cause financial stress. As we seek new solutions to this unprecedented situation, our priority is to ensure that there is as little disruption to your financial planning as possible. We are grateful for your patience and understanding during this time.

With supervisors across campus, we have identified the positions that can continue through remote work and those that cannot be done remotely.

If you will be continuing your position remotely, please make sure to complete, sign, and share the Student Employment Remote Work Agreement with your supervisor. You will continue to be paid on a bi-weekly schedule based on the hours you work.

For those of you who are unable to continue your work-study position, we been provided guidelines by the U.S. Department of Education regarding payment of unearned wages. The Middlebury Institute will offer you a one-time payment amounting to 75% of the wages you would have earned throughout this semester, based on an average of previous pay period earnings. This payment will be made via the Institute’s HR Payroll system. If you previously received your student employment earnings via paper check, that check will be forwarded to your Banner system address. Please update your information in Banner, if you have moved.

You will be hearing from us soon with more details. In the meantime, as always, we are here for you. If you have any questions or concerns about your work study position or other student financial services, please email us at finaid@miis.edu.

Sincerely,

Regina Garner
