Dear Students,

We hope this finds you well and adjusting as much as possible to the campus atmosphere in this unsettling time. We’ve asked a lot of you already in the last week, and sincerely appreciate all your cooperation so far. We understand this is hard. Nonetheless, we’re writing today to ask for your help again. 

In order to best serve and support you, while also conserving resources, we need you to move to a different room (with a few exceptions, see below). We’ve devised a plan that maintains a degree of social distancing approved by Dr. Peluso, our College physician, while also consolidating students in three residence halls: Gifford, Hepburn, and Forest. Under this plan, no floor will be at more than half occupancy, and every student will have a single room. All new rooms will be cleaned and move-in ready. The number of students sharing bathrooms will be kept very low, and these bathrooms will be cleaned with increased frequency. You will also be assigned a specific bathroom, which will be signed accordingly. Please treat these bathrooms as single use to limit contact (meaning only one person using them at a time, and knocking before entering). 

Here are the important details:

  • If you’re already living in Gifford, Forest or Hepburn you will stay in your current room.
  • Students not staying for the full break will remain in their current room until their scheduled departure. 
  • All other students will move, and will receive an email from Residential Life when their new assignment and touchpad code is available in their StarRez portal.
  • Students can start to move Thursday as soon as they receive the email from Residential Life indicating they can access their new room assignment and touchpad code in their StarRez portal. 
  • Moves must be completed by 5:00pm on Saturday, March 21. Access to your present rooms will cease at that time. Please plan accordingly.
  • Pack and take all belongings with you. Packing materials (boxes and tape) will be available to pick up in front of Battell on Thursday, March 19 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and Friday, March 20 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. 
  • Facilities will be available to assist with moves by providing pick-ups and drop-offs of items and physical help with moving larger/heavier items between 8:30 AM until 3:00 PM on Friday, March 20 and from 8:30 AM until 12:00 PM on Saturday, March 21. If you are in need of moving assistance, please click here to sign up for a 30-minute time slot. Please note that you must sign up in advance and you must be present and available during your appointment for Facilities to help you. Any items that will be moved by Facilities must be clearly labeled with your full name, cell phone number and your NEW spring residence hall and room number.
  • If you have received this email but are no longer on campus, please complete this Campus Departure Form.
