Update on Housing
Dear Friends of International Students,
We hope that you all continue to stay safe and healthy at this time. We write to share an important update.
On Monday, the College informed students who remain in campus housing for Spring Term that they will not be able to stay on campus during the summer. The College’s senior leadership made this difficult decision after careful consideration of many factors. (The announcement is here.) The College will continue to provide housing and meals to students on campus through Sunday, May 31.
Please be assured that the College is providing our students with the support they need during this time of transition. ISSS and the students’ Commons Deans will be working with individual students on their plans. The College will assist students with travel logistics, if needed, and may provide additional financial assistance based on an individual student’s personal circumstances. There also may be a limited number of students who, due to exceptional circumstances, may be granted special permission to stay in College housing temporarily. (Per our FIS Host Program expectations, host families are not obligated to assist with travel logistics, transportation to the airport, or housing needs.)
If your host student expresses any concerns regarding their plans, please encourage them to reach out to their Commons Dean or ISSS to discuss their situation.
Also, as stated in previous emails, under the current COVID-19 crisis precautions, we continue to recommend that you limit contact with your student to remote methods or outdoor connections that honor physical distancing guidelines.
Best wishes for continued good health.
