Testing remains an important component of our strategy to prevent and reduce the spread of COVID-19 on campus.
Middlebury’s COVID-19 testing program will be evaluated and adjusted if needed. We will take into consideration the latest guidance from the CDC and the Vermont Department of Health, among other factors.
A student’s failure to comply with Middlebury’s testing requirements is a serious violation of Middlebury’s community standards, and violations will be referred to the office of community standards. Repeated non-compliance may result in dismissal from campus housing.
Testing for Students, Faculty and Staff
PCR testing is available for students and asymptomatic employees at Centeno House, 136 South Main Street, accessible via the patio facing the Service Building. No appointment is needed. The COVID-19 Testing Schedule is available here.
Employees who are symptomatic cannot access a PCR test on campus. They must secure testing through their healthcare provider, the Vermont Department of Health or a local pharmacy.
Antigen tests for students and employees are available through the College as supplies last. Antigen tests for students are available in the dining halls at check-in, at the Davis Family Library circulation desk, and at Health Services. Antigen test kits are available for all employees at the Human Resources Office at Marble Works, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and at the Davis Family Library circulation desk.
For additional information about testing requirements see Instructions for those Exposed, Symptomatic, or Positive for COVID-19.
Symptomatic and Exposure Testing
All students and employees who are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms and/or have been exposed to COVID-19 must follow the COVID-19 Testing and Reporting Instructions and the Instructions for Those Exposed, Symptomatic, or Positive for COVID-19.
Targeted Dynamic Testing
Decisions about testing—including how often and how many students or employees are tested throughout the semester—will be informed by the health conditions of Addison County and Vermont, campus health conditions, and applicable guidance or requirements.
Results from PCR testing on campus will be available approximately 36 hours after the test is administered. Individuals who are tested on campus will receive an email at their @middlebury.edu address with instructions on how to access their results. Individuals expecting a result should always check their email spam or junk mail folders. Individuals whose results are positive will receive follow up communication about next steps and resources.
Individuals will be required to give permission to the College to disclose the results of their tests and their compliance with the testing procedures—but no other health information—to public health authorities and relevant Middlebury offices. Except as otherwise permitted or required by law, Middlebury will not disclose an individual’s COVID-19 test results to their families, emergency contacts, or anyone else except to facilitate contact tracing, treatment, or infection control on campus, or for other public health purposes. Whenever possible, Middlebury will use test results without names or identifiers.
