Middlebury Campus Alert Level

Middlebury College has adopted a color-designated alert system to indicate the operating status of the College during the COVID-19 pandemic. These alert levels are represented by four colors: green, yellow, orange, and red. We will remain at the yellow level while students are living on campus, when in-person classes are in session, and/or when standard COVID-19 precautions are in place. We will advance to the orange level if additional precautions are needed, and to red if we need to close campus. Green is the lowest level and would indicate normal operations.

Cumulative Testing Results

All students returning to campus (including those who have received COVID-19 vaccines) will be required to complete a 14-day prearrival quarantine off campus, and will be tested on Days 0 and 7 after arrival on campus in mid-January for research or in late February when spring classes resume. The College will test incoming students starting January 16 and resume the targeted dynamic testing program on January 21, 2021. Note: Students who have recovered from COVID-19 in the prior 90 days and who upload a PCR test result to their health portal are exempt from testing but must complete the prearrival quarantine.

The dashboard below represents cumulative testing results for winter term through the spring semester, which will begin with arrival testing on February 21 and 22. Classes will be conducted remotely until arrival testing is completed.

* Student Contacts Under Quarantine—This number represents the number of students on campus who are in quarantine. It will fluctuate because individuals may be placed under quarantine pending contact tracing and, upon review, are deemed not to be close contacts and are released from quarantine.

Data is updated when new test results are available and is posted by noon and 6 p.m. (ET) on those days.

The above dashboard reflects all the data gathered since January 16, 2021. Reported results do not include sample insufficient/retesting data records or any positive cases identified and remaining off campus. For additional explanation of terms, please visit our testing webpage.

Cumulative Conduct Policy Violations

The state of Vermont currently requires that higher education institutions provide COVID-19–related disciplinary statistics weekly as follows:

  • Number of substantiated COVID-19 policy violations
  • Number of students disciplined
  • Number of students removed from campus

The dashboard below corresponds with violations of Middlebury’s COVID-19 Health and Safety Policy from January 16, 2021, through the spring semester. The College will continue to update information weekly on Mondays by noon during the spring. We take these matters seriously and investigate all complaints. For privacy reasons, we are not able to provide additional details. Members of the public may report possible violations by filling out this form.
