AmeriCorps VISTA Position 2023-2024

We seek a motivated, organized, and compassionate individual for a one-year VISTA position at Middlebury College. The VISTA will work closely with the Center for Community Engagement (CCE) team to help coordinate and advise youth and mentoring student service organizations such the following:

  • Page One Literacy Project
  • Middlebury College Access Mentors
  • Nutrition Outreach and Mentoring
  • Yellow House Community Club
  • Special Olympics

The VISTA will help build capacity in programs and community partnerships that improve college aspirations and success and help children, primarily from low-income backgrounds in Addison County, thrive. The VISTA will also build capacity around college-positive volunteerism and first-generation college student access and success by providing support to Middlebury College students as they pursue community-based endeavors.

The VISTA member will also support communications initiatives in the Center for Community Engagement to promote local and global community-connected opportunities. They will supervise college student interns and collaboratively create social media posts, blog posts, weekly e-newsletters, library displays, and other communications efforts that reach multiple stakeholders.

The position is a one-year opportunity, from early August 2023 through the end of August 2024. In addition to the VISTA living stipend ($17,600), the CCE pays $500/month in housing assistance. At the conclusion of AmeriCorps service each VISTA member is eligible to receive a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award of $6,000 to pay education costs at qualified institutions of higher education, for educational training, or to repay qualified student loans.
