Beyond the Commons: The Role of the Faculty in Our Residential Liberal Arts College.
Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at 12:15 p.m. ET in the CTLR (DFL 225)
With the Commons system coming to an end, there is an opportunity to reassess the role of faculty in the life of the College beyond the academic realm:
What channels and resources should be available for faculty to interact with students?
Should the faculty consider a more ambitious advising program?
Should there be greater acknowledgment of the work that faculty do beyond their teaching and scholarship?
These are some of the questions that will guide this interactive session, which will be facilitated by Rob Moeller, Department of Psychology, and Jim Ralph, Department of History and Director of the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Research.
The session will open with an overview of the new BluePrint for Life program that has been developed to help students engage with Middlebury College and lead consequential lives.
Lunch will be available at 12:00 in the CTLR Lounge, and the roundtable conversation will begin shortly thereafter.
The Academic Roundtable Series is a collaborative effort between CTLR, DLINQ, and the Davis Family Library. Email ctlr@middlebury.edu if you would like to suggest a topic.
