Each spring, the CTLR organizes a learning institute for the Middlebury Faculty and Staff for community sharing and development.

2021 Learning Institute

Susan Blum smiling with red glasses

This year’s Learning Institute featured presenter Susan Blum of the University of Notre Dame. Current Middlebury faculty and staff can watch the keynote.

Professor Blum is the author of I Love Learning, I Hate School: An Anthropology of College (2016) and a co-editor of Ungrading: Why Rating Students Undermines Learning (and What to do Instead) (2020).

A professor of anthropology, Blum’s research focuses on the question—what does the world look and feel like to people, and what are the factors that shaped those views?

2021 Learning Institute: Educational Inequities and the Pandemic

Following a keynote on Thursday, Blum will lead a workshop for faculty and staff on ungrading. Additional sessions on educational equality will be on Friday.
