Women's Cross Country Finishes Second At NCAA's

11/20/04 - The Middlebury College women's cross country team came up one spot shy of its fifth NCAA Championship as they placed second to Williams at the 2004 NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Championships at Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Williams won the event with 110 points, followed by Middlebury's 129.
Senior Jessica Manzer (Palatine Bridge, N.Y.) earned All-American status for the fourth consecutive year with a sixth place finish in 21:46, while senior Marisa Cawley (Bennington, N.H.) was also an All-American with a seventh place finish in 22:01. Pacing 27th in the race was sophomore Andrea Giddings (<?xml:namespace prefix = "st1" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />South Portland, Maine) with a time of 22:47, followed by first-year racer Ceara Danaher (W. Hartford, Conn.) in 41st with a time of 22:57. Sophomore Makely Lyon (Portland, Ore.) rounded out the scorers in 48th place (23:03), followed by sophomore Stephanie Nugent (Cambridge, Mass.) in 53rd (23:08) and junior Kelsey Rinehart (Moorestown, N.J.) in 61st (23:17).<?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
