XCountry Squads Dominate At Bard

The Middlebury cross country teams dominated a sizable field at the Bard Invitational races on Saturday in Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y.  The Panther women won the 16-team field with 14 of the top 18 finishers, while the men captured a 22-team race with 12 of the top 17 racers.

Alison Maxwell (18:17) narrowly won the event, as just seven seconds separated the top 10 finishers, nine of them Panthers. Placing second was Sarah Guth (18:18), followed by Summer Spillane (18:19) in third and Erzsebet Nagy (18:20) in fourth. Olivia Artaiz rounded out the scorers with a fifth place finish in 18:21.

Greg Krathwohl took home the men’s event with a time of 24:35, eight seconds ahead of teammate Kevin Wood (24:43). Nate Sans was next in third place (24:45), followed by Wilder Schaaf in fourth (24:50) and Samuel Cartwright in fifth (25:17).
