Kuzzy & Hamilton Compete At Olympic Games

Former Middlebury College All-Americans Garrott Kuzzy '06 and Simeon Hamilton '09 represented the United States Olympic team during the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver, B.C.

In their first event, Monday's (2/15/10) 15K freestyle race, the pair were two of just four Americans competing in the Nordic race, with 96 qualifiers from around the world starting the event. Dario Cologna of Switzerland captured the gold medal, finishing with a time of 33:36.

Kuzzy was second among Americans, starting 59th and finishing 58th with a time of 36:41, 3:05 off the winning pace. Hamilton also had a solid performance, starting 69th and finishing 64th overall with a time of 37:30.

In Wednesday's (2/17/10) Individual Sprint Classic race, Hamilton was the.only American to qualify for the quarterfinal round, finishing 6.96 seconds behind the leader. Kuzzy also competed in the event, finishing 12.89 seconds off the pace. Just 30 racers took part in the quarterfinals, with Hamilton unable to qualify after finishing just 1.6 seconds off the pace in his group.

The duo raced again on Wednesday (2/24/10), competing in the 4x10K relay classic/free event. The Americans finished 13th of 14 teams in the race, with Kuzzy racing the third leg and Hamilton the fourth.
