Day One Complete At NCAA Skiing

Day one of competition is complete at the 2012 NCAA Skiing Championships hosted by Montana State University. The women's 5K freestyle race and the men's 10K freestyle race were on the docket Wednesday at Bohart Ranch in Bozeman, Montana.

Middlebury sits in 10th place overall among 19 scoring teams after one day, with the men's nordic team placing ninth and the women tied for 12th. Patrick Johnson was the top Panther in the men's race, placing 20th among 39 racers with a time of 25:58. Finishing the race in 27th place was Chase Marston (27:19), followed by Ben Lustgarten in 31st (27:29). Annie Pokorny paced the Panther women with a 25th place finish among 39 racers, earning a time of 15:50. Middlebury's other nordic racer was Sophie McClelland, who came in with a time of 16:44, good for 37th place.
