Williams Tops Women's Swimmers

1/29/05 - The Middlebury College swimming and diving team was defeated by Williams on Saturday by a score of 167-131 at the Middlebury College Natatorium.

First-year swimmer Marika Ross (<?xml:namespace prefix = "st1" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Shorewood, Wis.) had a big meet for the women as she won three events on the afternoon. Ross won the 200 fly in 2:04.62, picked up a win in the 100 fly with a time of 57.87, while earning a victory in the 400 IM in 4:35.09. Winning two events on the day were first-year racer Sara Cowie (N. Palm Beach, Fla.) and senior diver Tessa Truex (Wethersfield, Conn.). Cowie won the 1650 free in 17:44.46, while finishing first in the 500 free with a time of 5:15.10. Truex won both the 1M (259.35) and 3M (255.60) diving competitions on the day.<?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
