July 14, 2014

Middlebury College has announced the hiring of Zack Wahl as an assistant swimming coach. Wahl comes to Middlebury from Union College, where he graduated in the spring of 2014 with a degree in biology and geology.

“I am very excited to have Zack as a part of our program,” said head coach Bob Rueppel. “I look forward to working with him, and I know his experience as a very successful student-athlete at the Division III level will benefit all of our team members.”

Wahl was a four-year member of the swim team at Union, three times earning team Most Valuable Player honors. He owns four school records, including the 100 and 200 fly, while being a part of the 200 freestyle relay and 400 medley relay squads. Wahl earned NCAA Honorable Mention All-American honors three times, while being named the Liberty League Swimmer of the Year in 2014.

The Webster, New York native has also worked as an assistant coach for the Webster Blue Fins Swim Club from 2012-14. He has also staffed the Union swim camp and worked as a lifeguard at the Webster Aquatic Center.
