Four Field Hockey Players Earn Regional Honors

Four members of the Middlebury College field hockey team were named to the NFHCA (National Field Hockey Coaches Association) New England West All-Region teams when they were announced today. Junior Chase Delano (Greenwich, Conn.) and first-year player Lauren Greer (N. Hampton, N.H.) were named to the first-team, while senior Heather McCormack (Rowley, Mass.) and senior Dana Heritage (Cheshire, Conn.) earned second-team honors. The group helped lead the Panthers to their seventh straight trip to the NCAA Tournament, ending the season with a 12-5 mark.

Field Hockey Falls In NCAA Regionals

The Middlebury field hockey team saw its season come to an end with a 2-1 loss to Trinity in an NCAA Regional at Ursinus. The Bantams held a 2-0 lead and then held off a late Middlebury flurry to pick up the win. Trinity will meet Ursinus in the regional final tomorrow, while Middlebury ends its season at 12-5.

Field Hockey Headed To NCAA Regional

The Middlebury College field hockey team is making its seventh consecutive and 10th overall appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Following a 5-1 first-round win over UMass.-Dartmouth, the Panthers head to Ursinus College in Pennsylvania for a regional this weekend. The host school will take on Lynchburg at 11:00 a.m., followed by Middlebury vs. Trinity at 2:00 p.m. The NCAA Regional final is slated for 1:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.

Field Hockey Earns NCAA Tournament Win Over UMD

Middlebury (12-4) picked up a 5-1 NCAA Tournament first-round win over UMass.-Dartmouth (15-7) on Dragone Field. The Panthers advance to an NCAA Regional at Ursinus, where they will take on Trinity on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. The host school meets Lynchburg at 11:00 a.m. in the other match-up. The regional final will take place on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. With the victory, Middlebury improves to 17-9 all-time in NCAA Tournament play, while the Corsairs were making their first NCAA Tournament appearance.

Four members of the Middlebury College field hockey team earned All-NESCAC honors when the teams were announced today. Sophomore Emily Blair (W. Vancouver, B.C.) earned first-team honors, while senior Heather McCormack (Rowley, Mass.), junior Chase Delano (Greenwich, Conn.) and first-year player Lauren Greer (N. Hampton, N.H.) earned second team honors. Greer was also honored as the conference’s rookie of the year.

Middlebury had little trouble with Williams, handing the Ephs a 7-1 defeat in the final NESCAC regular season home game for both teams. The Panthers finish the season in fourth place and will hosted fifth-seeded Williams for the second time in three days in a NESCAC Quarterfinal game on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. on Kohn Field.

Delano Earns Player Of The Week Honors

Middlebury College field hockey player Chase Delano (Greenwich, Conn.) has been named the NESCAC Player of the Week. Delano had a five-goal week for the Panthers, as they picked up a pair of road wins. She began the week with the game-winner in a 6-5 victory at St. Lawrence. Delano then netted four goals on Saturday, including the game-winner, as the Panthers picked up a 7-1 win over Bates. The Panthers will wrap up their regular season this Friday when they host Williams at 3:30, before entering NESCAC Tournament play on Sunday.

Field Hockey Cruises Past Bates

Chase Delano scored four goals to stake Middlebury College to a 6-0 lead, as the No. 10-ranked Panthers defeated the Bates College field hockey team 7-1 in a NESCAC game on Saturday amid heavy rain at Campus Avenue Field.

The Middlebury field hockey team won its third straight game, earning a 6-5 shootout victory on the road at #17 St. Lawrence. Six different goal scorers found the back of the cage for the 10th ranked Panthers, as they prepare to visit Bates on Saturday.

Middlebury broke open a scoreless game in the second half with four tallies on its way to a 4-1 victory over Connecticut College on Kohn Field. The Panthers used four different goal scorers in the game and have now won seven of their last eight contests.

Heather McCormack and Lauren Greer scored two goals apiece to lead Middlebury to a 6-0 win over Keene State on Kohn Field. The victory is the sixth for the Panthers in their last seven games, while the Owls see their winning streak stopped at three.

Field Hockey Suffers Loss At Amherst

The 20th-ranked Amherst field hockey team upset 10th-ranked Middlebury, 4-2 on Gooding Field in Amherst, Mass. The Lord Jeffs got a trio of goals from Haley Douds in the win to improve to 7-3 (3-3 NESCAC) on the year, while drops Middlebury to 6-3 (3-3).

The Middlebury field hockey team won its fifth straight game with a 4-0 road victory at Union. The Panthers used four different goal scorers in the win, as they improve to 6-2 on the season. Middlebury held a 19-2 shots advantage and a 12-1 lead in penalty corners in the contest.

Greer Earns Player Of The Week Honors

Middlebury College field hockey player Lauren Greer (N. Hampton, N.H.) has been named the NESCAC Player of the Week. The rookie had a big week for the Panthers, scoring five goals to lead the Panthers to a perfect 3-0 mark. She was involved in all three goals, scoring twice, in a mid-week 3-1 victory over Skidmore. Over the weekend, Greer scored twice against Colby and again vs. Wesleyan as the Panthers picked up two NESCAC home wins on Kohn Field. She now leads the team with six goals in seven games this season.

Middlebury won its second NESCAC home game in as many days, as the Panthers picked up a 5-3 win over Wesleyan on Dragone Field. Middlebury has now won four straight contests, scoring a dozen goals on the weekend with wins over Colby and Wesleyan.

Middlebury had little trouble with NESCAC foe Colby, as they defeated the Mules 7-0 in a game played on Kohn Field. The Panthers improve to 4-2 overall (2-2 NESCAC), while the Mules fall to 4-3 (1-3 NESCAC). Middlebury returns to action on Sunday when they host Wesleyan at 2:00 p.m.

Field Hockey Defeats Skidmore

In a battle between teams ranked nationally, #15 Middlebury handed #10 Skidmore a 3-1 defeat on Kohn Field in Vermont. The Panthers have now won two straight after their win over #13 Bowdoin on Saturday. Middlebury returns to action this weekend when they host Colby and Wesleyan on Saturday and Sunday. Skidmore is off until October 9th when they entertain St. Lawrence.

Field Hockey With Big Win At Bowdoin

A pair of first-half goals snapped Middlebury's eight-match losing streak to rival Bowdoin and gave the Panthers their first NESCAC win of the season in a 2-0 decision on Saturday. The Panthers (2-2, 1-2 NESCAC) had not beaten the Polar Bears (3-2, 1-2) since 2004, including a pair of defeats in NCAA Tournament play.

Trinity Tops Field Hockey

The Panther field hockey team suffered a 2-0 road loss at the hands of NESCAC foe Trinity. Bantam goalkeeper Gina DiNallo made eight saves including several athletic stops to combine with the defense to shut down 11th ranked Middlebury. Trinity, ranked 15th nationally, improves to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the league with their fourth consecutive victory. The win was the first for the Bantams over the Panthers since ’99, snapping a 13 game skid against the Panthers, who fall to 1-2 and 0-2 in the league.

Middlebury Tops Springfield

Middlebury came from a 1-0 deficit to pick up a 2-1 win at Springfield on Tuesday night. The 11th ranked Panthers move to 1-1 on the season as they earned the non-conference win at Springfield's Amos Alonzo Stagg Field.

Field Hockey Opens With Loss To Tufts

Middlebury and Tufts both opened up their seasons today on Middlebury College’s Kohn Field, as the Jumbos emerged with a 3-1 win. Tufts, who advanced to both the NESCAC and NCAA Finals a year ago, moves to 1-0 on the year, while the Panthers fall to 0-1.

Berrien Joins Coaching Staff

Reid Berrien has been named an assistant field hockey and lacrosse coach at Middlebury College. After working as a volunteer with both programs a year ago, the ’08 Middlebury graduate joins the staff in a full-time position.

Berrien graduated from Greens Farms Academy in Westport, Connecticut in ’04, before arriving at Middlebury where she earned a psychology degree in the spring of ‘08. She played four years of field hockey and lacrosse, serving as team captain for both squads during her senior year.
