Alice Pfeifer a senior at Middlebury College, is the recipient of the Elite 89 award for the 2012 NCAA Division III Women’s Lacrosse Championship. Pfeifer, who is an English and American Literature major with a minor in Education Studies was presented with the award during the Women’s Lacrosse Championship banquet on the evening of May 16th in Stevenson, Maryland.
The Middlebury College women's lacrosse team will make its 16th trip to the NCAA final four when they take on Salisbury this weekend in a semifinal match-up at Stevenson University. The Panthers will take on the Gulls at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 18th, with Trinity and Cortland State to follow at 1:30 p.m. The NCAA Championship game will take place at noon on Sunday.
Middlebury College women's lacrosse seniors Ellen Halle (Upperco, Md.) and Margaret Souther (Scarsdale, N.Y.) have both earned first-team All-American honors from the IWLCA (Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association), while senior Liza Herzog (Baltimore, Md.) was a third-team honoree. The trio have helped lead the Panthers to an 18-2 record as they prepare for this weekend’s final four.
Middlebury will make its 16th trip to the NCAA final four after earning a 10-8 win over Rensselaer in a regional final game on Kohn Field. The Panthers (18-2) will take on Salisbury at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 18th, while Trinity meets Cortland in the other semifinal at 1:30. The NCAA Championship game will take place at noon on Sunday, May 19th.
Middlebury advanced to the NCAA Regional finals with a 13-4 win over Endicott on Kohn Field. The 17-2 Panthers, owners of a 41-12 record in NCAA action, will host Rensselaer, a 9-8 winner over Gettysburg, on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. with a trip to the final four on the line.
