Morgan is now in his second season at the helm of the women's tennis and squash teams in '06-'07. His squash team advanced to the nationals in his first season, while his women's tennis team took part in the NCAA quarterfinals.

Morgan
came to Middlebury from NESCAC member Colby, where he has served as the men’s and women’s head tennis coach since 2003-2004 as well as the assistant coach for men’s and women’s squash.

Over the past three seasons at Colby, Morgan has helped develop very competitive teams on the courts. Last season, his men’s squad was ranked 30th nationally. Several of Morgan’s men’s and women’s tennis players have risen in the rankings, competing for NESCAC individual titles each season.

His teams have also excelled in the classroom, with both his men’s and women’s squads sporting the highest GPAs among varsity teams at Colby. He was also responsible for the creation of the Central Maine Tennis Association, a nonprofit organization designed to promote the game of tennis in the greater Waterville, Maine area. His teams were involved in the local school systems, and he twice had a player win the school’s highest leadership award among student athletes.

Morgan also has extensive experience on the squash courts, having worked with both the men’s and women’s programs as an assistant coach at Colby. “Squash is a fantastic sport, and I am looking forward to adding to the success that Coach Saward has already established at Middlebury,” said Morgan.

Morgan previously coached at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in California, where he led the men’s tennis team to an 8-0 record and the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title. His team rose to a number nine ranking in 2002-2003, with a doubles team capturing a national title in 2001-2002. Morgan led the Stags to the NCAA Tournament in each of his three years at the school.

Prior to arriving at Claremont, Morgan was an assistant men’s tennis coach at Notre Dame from 1997-2000 and the College of William and Mary in 1996-1997. He was the 2000 ITA Regional Assistant Coach of the Year at Notre Dame.

Morgan is a 1996 graduate of St. Mary’s College in Moraga, Calif., where he was a scholarship tennis player.
