Vermont BLTN

The Bread Loaf School of English received a gift of support for the Vermont Bread Loaf Teacher Network, bringing together a diverse group of outstanding Vermont teachers committed to social change and community revitalization through education and collaboration. Members met this summer with representatives from Shelburne Farms and the Addison County Supervisory Union to discuss partnerships and collaborations across schools and organizations. In October, they convened at Middlebury College as part of a VT BLTN-designed hybrid online course investigating the tradition of the Vermont family farm.

New Director of Admissions

After 32 years of learning, living, and working at Bread Loaf as the director of admissions, Sandy Legault MA ’87 has accepted a new position in the President’s office at Middlebury College, where she works, in part, on the presidential search committee. “Sandy has an endless enthusiasm for all things Bread Loaf,” said director Emily Bartels, “and I am grateful for all the work she has done, and pleased she has the opportunity to take on new challenges a few doors down.”

Following Sandy’s departure, Dana Olsen has assumed the role of director of admissions. Since joining Bread Loaf in 2011 she has served as budget and communications manager and coordinator of the Oxford campus. “Our students and alumni are involved in remarkable projects across the globe,” she observes. “It’s thrilling to help usher students into the program knowing that they will be shaped by their experiences here and that they will, in turn, re-charge their schools and students with new energy and vision.”

Dianne Baroz Rejoins Bread Loaf Staff

Bread Loaf is delighted to welcome Dianne Baroz back to the administrative staff in Middlebury. From 1996-2002, Dianne served as coordinator for the Alaska and New Mexico campuses. In her current position, she will coordinate the Oxford campus, assist the director of BLTN, and manage special alumni events. Dianne and her husband, Robert Baroz MA ’95 MLitt ’02, have two sons, Timothy and James.
