This summer the Bread Loaf/Asheville campus will be home to writer-in-residence Rick Chess, author of three books of poetry and the Roy Carroll Professor of Honors Arts and Sciences and Professor of Literature and Language at University of North Carolina at Asheville.
Over the course of the six-week Bread Loaf session, Dr. Chess will offer three writing workshops focusing on the process of transformation from inquiry to insight. In workshops designed to develop strong imaginative writing skills, students will draft and share short poems or flash non-fiction, discuss radical revision strategies, and reflect on the process together.
An award-winning teacher, Rick Chess has been a member of the faculties of the low-residency MFA programs at Warren Wilson College and Queens College, in addition to serving as writer-in-residence for many years at Brandeis Bardin Institute in Simi Valley, California.
