Christopher Gilbert Published in Washington Post & English Journal

A recent piece by Christopher Gilbert (MA '10) in The Washington Post explores the role of poverty in education, taking a classroom discussion of George Orwell as its starting point.

The NCTE's English Journal has published Mr. Gilbert's  article, "The Quest of Father and Son: Illuminating Character Identity, Motivation, and Conflict in Cormac McCarthy's The Road," in its September 2012 issue.

A second article, written by Gilbert in Beverly Moss's BLSE course Literacy, Race, and Class has been published in the March 2013 edition of the same journal. "Changing the Lens: The Necessity of Visual Literacy in the ELA Classroom" also refers to techniques Mr. Gilbert learned in a BLSE class with Sara Blair.
