Financial Aid

No interested applicant with strong credentials should fail to apply because of financial need.

Financial aid is available in the form of grants and loans. The aid is awarded on the basis of financial need and scholastic achievement on a first-come, first-served basis.

New and returning students who wish to be considered for financial aid offered through Middlebury College must file a Bread Loaf Financial Aid Form with the Office of Student Financial Services. Students must complete a new form for each summer.

Aid forms for the following summer are generally available by mid-October through the Bread Loaf website (see the "Applying for Financial Aid" page to the left); students may apply online or they may download a paper form.

Completed applications for financial aid should always be submitted as early as possible. Aid decisions are made beginning in January, after an applicant is accepted to Bread Loaf or, for returning students, officially re-enrolled.

On-campus student jobs are available in Vermont and New Mexico.

Special Fellowships & Scholarships

In addition to regular financial aid, Bread Loaf offers a limited number of fellowships, scholarships, and stipends that are made possible by grants and special funding. Special funding opportunities for the upcoming summer are listed on our website. Any additional fellowships or scholarships will be added as they become available.
