Update: Vermont Staff Retirement Incentive Program
This message was sent to all VT and CA faculty and staff and retirees.
Dear Faculty and Staff,
We write to provide an update about the Vermont Staff Retirement Incentive Program and next steps. This spring, as part of our ongoing efforts to ensure a strong and sustainable future for Middlebury, we offered a voluntary retirement incentive program for Vermont-based staff. This program was designed to honor the contributions of our long-serving employees who were eligible to retire—those age 55 and older with 10 or more years of service—and to help reduce our overall operating budget as we work to correct a structural deficit.
Today we want to share the results of the program, including the names, roles, and years of service of the 53 staff members who have chosen to participate and have already retired or will be retiring in the months ahead. You will find a complete list below our signatures in this message.
We want to recognize these individuals, who represent a remarkable legacy of dedication, care, and institutional knowledge. Collectively, they have contributed hundreds of years of service to our students, our mission, and our community. We will miss them and we celebrate their next chapter with gratitude and appreciation. The retirees will be honored as a group with a special reception with President Ian Baucom. Please join us in thanking each of them for their contributions and wishing them the very best in their journeys ahead.
We recognize that moments of change like this can bring both celebration and uncertainty. We are committed to supporting our employees and our mission with care and clarity through every step of this process. We will share more with the community as we finalize future organizational plans and next steps.
Thank you for all you do to support Middlebury.
Sincerely,
David Provost
Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration
Michelle McCauley
Executive Vice President and Provost
Caitlin Goss
Vice President for Human Resources and Chief People Officer
