Bread Loaf in Sicily Conference Staff

Jennifer GrotzJennifer Grotz, Director of the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conferences, is the author of three books of poetry, Cusp, The Needle, and most recently, Window Left Open. Also a translator, her Psalms of All My Days, translations from the French poet Patrice de La Tour du Pin, appeared in 2014. Rochester Knockings, by the Tunisian novelist Hubert Haddad, appeared in 2015. With the poet and translator Piotr Sommer, she has recently co-translated from the Polish Everything I Don’t Know, the selected poems of Jerzy Ficowski. Some of the poems from that collection have recently appeared in New York Review of Books, Poetry, Parnassus, and The Nation. A recipient of fellowships from the National Endowment of the Arts and the Guggenheim Foundation, she teaches poetry and translation at the University of Rochester.

Hope Maxwell Snyder

Hope Maxwell Snyder, Assistant Director of Bread Loaf in Sicily, was born in Bogotá, Colombia.  She received an MA from Johns Hopkins and a Ph.D. in Spanish Medieval Literature from the University of Manchester.  She has lived in Italy and Spain. Hope’s poems and translations have appeared in Alehouse Press, Blackbird, Comstock Review, Gettysburg Review, Kenyon Review, International Poetry Review, Poetry Northwest, and other journals. Honors include poetry fellowships for the Gettysburg Review’s Conference for Writers and the Peter Taylor Fellowship in Poetry at the Kenyon Review’s Conference.  Former Writer in Residence at Hood College, she is Poet Laureate of Shepherdstown, West Virginia. Her poetry book, Esperanza and Hope, will be released in the spring of 2018. 

Noreen CargillNoreen Cargill, Administrative Director of the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conferences, has worked for Middlebury College since 2000. Before joining the Conference, she worked in a library, a bookstore, and a small publishing house.  She enjoys freelance writing and has published in Better Homes and Gardens, the Boston Globe, Vermont Life, and Vermont Magazine.

Jason LambJason Lamb, Coordinator of the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conferences, taught middle school English for several years, before recruiting emerging and established writers for the MFA in Writing program at Vermont College of Fine Arts.  He writes short fiction, and spends any free time he has hiking in the mountains.  Jason recently summited all forty-eight mountains over four thousand feet in New Hampshire and is currently working on finishing the remaining New England mountains, with occasional trips to the Cascade Range in Washington state.
