Local musical ensemble to perform recital of French songs April 7

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. ? On Friday, April 7, Colchester-based Deja Nous will bring their lively repertoire of traditional French songs to Middlebury College. The performance will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the Concert Hall of the Center for the Arts, located on South Main Street (Route 30), and is free and open to the public.

Deja Nous has been performing across Vermont and the Hudson River Valley for over two years. Singer Jean-Jacques Psaute, who came to America eight years ago, grew up in the North of France with a rich tradition of singing and music in his family. Other members of the group include Nate Venet, Terri Conti and Peter K.K. Williams. The repertoire of Deja Nous includes different periods and jazz styles of popular and jazz songs always presented in the pure tradition of French Cabaret. The musicians deliver compelling and entertaining interpretations of the songs of Edith Piaf, Jacques Brel, Claude Nougaro, Charles Aznavour, Yves Montand, Charles Trenet and others.
