Petr Kolar

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. ? Ambassador of the Czech Republic to the United States Petr Kolar will give a lecture titled “Reflections on 1989: Twenty Years of Czech-American and Transatlantic Relations” on Friday, Oct. 30 at 4:30 p.m. The talk, which is free and open to the public, will take place at the Robert A. Jones ‘59 House conference room, located on Hillcrest Road off College Street (Route 125).

Prior to his position as ambassador to the U.S., Kolar served as deputy minister of foreign affairs for bilateral relations in the Czech Republic. He has also served as ambassador to Ireland and Sweden. From 1998-1999 he was adviser for European Integration and the Balkans to Vaclav Havel, president of the Czech Republic. He has held numerous diplomatic and research posts.

Kolar’s talk is sponsored by the Rohatyn Center for International Affairs, the department of Political Science, the programs in Russian & East European Studies and European Studies, and the Center for Comparative Study of Race and Ethnicity.
