MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Middlebury College celebrated its 95th Winter Carnival in February, continuing its streak as the nation’s oldest student-run winter carnival. The festivities began with a bonfire and fireworks on Thursday, February 22. Later that evening, Umoja, Middlebury’s African student organization, hosted a kickoff party at Crossroads Café.

On Friday and Saturday, the men’s and women’s alpine and Nordic teams hosted Winter Carnival ski races, placing third overall. Other highlights of the Carnival included an improv show by student comedy groups Middlebrow and Otter Nonsense, chili and games at the Anderson Freeman Center, and the annual ice show at Kenyon Arena sponsored by the Middlebury College Figure Skating Club. The festivities were capped off with the winter ball at Nelson Field House. Winter Carnival is organized by the Middlebury College Activities Board and the Winter Carnival Sports Board.
