Middlebury Ranks Fifth Nationally for Sustainability

January 4, 2017

Middlebury ranks fifth among baccalaureate institutions in the 2016 Sustainable Campus Index, published by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education, or AASHE.

According to the Chronicle of Higher Education, which published the rankings on January 3, 2017, the index "recognizes top-performing colleges and universities in 17 distinct aspects of sustainability and over all, as measured by the association's Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System, known as Stars."

Middlebury was among the 249 institutions that submitted a valid Stars Version 2 report between July 1, 2013, and June 30, 2016. AASHE requires colleges and universities to submit the report to be considered for its ranking.
