Open House and Language Teaching Technology Demos
for Middlebury College Center for Educational Technology
The Middlebury College Center for Educational Technology
will hold an Open House for area residents to tour the new facility
on June 13 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The Center, which will house
the College’s training programs in the use of computer technology
for language instruction, is located in the former Addison County
Courthouse at 6 Court Street in Middlebury, Vt.
At 5:45 p.m. Middlebury College President John M.
McCardell, Jr. will officially open the Center with a brief ribbon-cutting
ceremony. Immediately following there will be a live interactive
video link established between the Center’s downtown location
and the main campus of Middlebury College. President McCardell
will speak with Roberto Veguéz, director of the Middlebury
Language Schools, who will be in a studio on campus.
Various classrooms will be set up to demonstrate
the use of SCOLA, a service that provides the Center with television
newscasts from various countries around the world, and to show
hands-on activities such as scanning and digital photography.
