Middlebury College Marks International Women’s
Day with Career Panel and Human Rights Lecture

Middlebury College will recognize International Women’s
Day on Monday, March 9, with a career panel presentation and discussion
at 4:15 p.m., as well as a lecture on human rights at 8 p.m. The
panel and the lecture will take place in the Charles A. Dana Auditorium
on College Street (Route 125). Both events are free and open to
the public.

The panel is titled “Advancing Your International
Career: Perspectives of Women Professionals.” The panelists
are Jane L. Brett, a founding partner of the Wall Street firm
Weiss, Peck & Greer, and past
president of the New York Society of Security Analysts;
Margaret Chapman, former vice president of the U.S.-Russia Business
Council; Pamela Nugent Czekanski, vice president and portfolio
manager at Loomis Sayles & Co.; and Elizabeth
Knup, program director, National
Committee on U.S.-China Relations. Kathryn Wittneben,
president of the Geonomics Institute of Middlebury
College, will serve as moderator.

The panelists will discuss the wide array of international
professional positions available to women in today’s global marketplace,
as well as strategies for building a successful internationally-oriented
career. They also will address opportunities in the public, private,
and nonprofit sectors.

Irena Lasota, program director and president of the
Institute for Democracy in Eastern Europe, will speak on “Human
Rights from Cuba to Azerbaijana Woman’s Perspective.” Her
talk will focus on the concept of human rights for those in transition
from communism to democracy.
