A note to students, faculty and staff:

Winter Term classes are expected to begin tomorrow, January 4, as scheduled. However, the National Weather Service’s winter storm warning continues till 7 a.m. tomorrow, with more snow expected today and tonight. Road travel may be difficult, and the Burlington airport is experiencing significant delays. As always, we hope anyone returning or commuting to campus will use their best judgment regarding the advisability of travel.

Faculty should be prepared for the possibility that some students may not return in time for initial class meetings. Please do not eliminate any students from your roster due to nonattendance until you have received information on their status from the students or their commons deans.

Faculty who are unable to make it to class themselves should attempt to inform students via the automatic listserv for each class that is available on Outlook (for example, the address for HIST 1002 is hist1002a-w10). Please also inform your department coordinator, and, if you are a visiting instructor, Janis Audet in Academic Affairs.

Students who are delayed should attempt to reach instructors via e-mail to let them know their status and to obtain information on class assignments.

It is expected that College operations will proceed as usual. Employees should contact their supervisors if they are concerned about their ability to travel to work, and supervisors are asked to show flexibility. As always, staff members can use CTO for hours missed from work.

College policies regarding weather-related emergencies are included in the College’s Emergency Response Plan.

Any important updates regarding College operations will be posted on the College Web site, circulated by e-mail, and recorded on the College’s Emergency Information Line: 802.443.2500.
