Senior Meg Simon Wins Hockey Humanitarian Award
Meg Simon ’26, a member of the women’s hockey team, became the first Middlebury student and only the second NESCAC athlete to receive the prestigious Hockey Humanitarian Award, which was presented in a ceremony at the Park MGM Ballroom in Las Vegas on April 10 as part of the NCAA Men’s Frozen Four weekend. The award—now in its 31st year—is given to “college hockey’s finest citizen—a student-athlete who makes significant contributions not only to his or her team but also to his or her community through leadership in volunteerism.”
Simon, an economics major, is well known on- and off-campus for her leadership and volunteering, including working with the Middlebury Amateur Hockey Association (MAHA), Special Olympics Vermont, and the Yellow House Community, an organization that provides safe, residential housing and meaningful vocational opportunities for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She was recently featured in The IX Sports.
Middlebury Athletics produced the following profile of this remarkable student athlete.
