Middlebury Wraps For Every Future Campaign Early, Surpassing Goal
Middlebury raised more than $105 million in gifts and pledges in fiscal year 2026, helping it surpass its ambitious goals for the For Every Future campaign more than two years ahead of schedule. Launched with a $600 million goal, the campaign has closed at $650 million, demonstrating the continued commitment of Middlebury alumni, families, and friends.
Those sentiments were equally evident this year in the strong commitment of alumni volunteering for and participating in events—online, on campus, and around the world. From attending faculty lectures and Reunion to showing up at regional events, more than 12,000 undergraduate alumni connected with Middlebury over the past 12 months.
“It’s always exciting for a campaign to meet its goal,” said Dan Courcey, vice president for Advancement. “Surpassing what we set out to achieve is testimony to the deep care for and commitment to Middlebury shared by alumni across class years and parents and friends from around the world. That energy continues to strengthen and sustain Middlebury’s future.”
Over the course of the For Every Future campaign, donor support has advanced Middlebury’s priorities while also generating innovation and new opportunities. These contributions will help in the following ways:
- $190 million to strengthen financial aid and provide opportunity grants
- $132 million for faculty and academic programs, including funds for 11 new endowed professorship and professor of the practice funds
- $102 million for experiential learning beyond the classroom, including $9.5 million to support internships and student research fellowships
- $142 million in unrestricted support allowing Middlebury the flexibility to allocate funds to the most pressing and emergent needs
- $288 million for the endowment
“The accomplishments within this campaign, from scholarships to academic centers, reflect the many ways Middlebury matters to our community,” said Ted Truscott ’83, trustee and campaign co-chair. The name For Every Future captures the spirit of this campaign because, together, we have created opportunities that will support Middlebury students and the many futures they will go on to shape.”
The campaign has also resulted in the following:
- 151 new endowed scholarships
- $26 million for first-generation scholarship support
- $19 million for international student scholarships
- $10 million for coaching funds
- $64 million for the Marna O. Davis Art Museum (“The Marna”)
- $11 million for environmental programs and climate leadership
- $4.9 million endowment for student mental health support
- $7.1 million to endow and support the Elizabeth Hackett Robinson ’84 Innovation Hub
- $20 million to support midd.data and educational initiatives focused on AI and other emerging technologies
In addition to making these substantial monetary contributions to the College, alumni commit their time and talent through extensive volunteering. Alumni serve as career mentors and advisors, alumni admissions interviewers, class agents, Reunion committee members, class correspondents, guest lecturers, trustees, and members of the Middlebury Alumni Association board and Annual Fund Executive Committee. More than 8,000 alumni took on these volunteer roles, including 844 who conducted 3,586 interviews of applicants for the Class of 2030 and 984 who served as career mentors.
“This achievement reflects not simply the completion of a campaign, but what this community can accomplish together,” said President Ian Baucom. “I am deeply grateful to the faculty, staff, alumni, parents, and friends who made this possible, and to my predecessor Laurie Patton, whose leadership launched this effort and set it on a path to success. This campaign has secured the foundation on which Middlebury’s future will be built.”
The successful close of the For Every Future campaign ensures that Middlebury remains a place defined by access, excellence, and enduring purpose.
“When we launched For Every Future, we set ambitious goals rooted in a belief that Middlebury’s greatest strength is its ability to prepare students for lives of purpose and impact,” said Parker Harris ’89, P’20, trustee and campaign co-chair. “Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of alumni, families, and friends, we have built a stronger foundation for the students, ideas, and opportunities that will define Middlebury’s future. This campaign is a powerful expression of our community’s belief in the institution and its mission.”
