About Bertram Johnson
Bert Johnson is associate professor of political science at Middlebury College. He joined the faculty in 2004 and teaches courses in American politics, money in politics, and federalism, state, and local politics.
Johnson is a co-author of The New American Democracy, a major U.S. politics textbook, now in its seventh edition. He has published articles and book chapters on intergovernmental grants, local government structure, presidential-congressional relations, and campaign finance. He is currently working on a book manuscript on the role of small contributions in congressional and presidential fundraising.
Johnson does regular news interviews. Recent interviews include USA Today and Vermont Public Radio.
Bert Johnson graduated from Carleton College and received his Ph.D. from Harvard University.
