MIDDLEBURY, Vt. — After a few weeks to let the joy of a national championship sink in, we sat down with Middlebury field hockey team captains Anna Kenyon and Bridget Instrum, along with Head Coach Katharine DeLorenzo, to take a look back at their championship season.

In the NCAA semifinals, Middlebury defeated The College of New Jersey 4-1, avenging the team that bumped them from last year’s tournament. Advancing to the championship, the Panthers defeated #1 Bowdoin by a score of 1-0. Bowdoin had previously handed the Panthers their only two losses of the season.

The national title was Middlebury’s second in field hockey – they previously won the tournament in 1998. The Panthers finished their season at 20-2, a new record for the field hockey program.
