The Middlebury College Museum of Art serves as an integral educational and cultural component of Middlebury College yet also seeks to enrich the larger educational and cultural environment of Vermont.

The Museum makes its resources available to Middlebury College faculty and students as well as to local and regional K–12 teachers and their students. Various courses from a broad spectrum of the Middlebury College curriculum make use of our collections and temporary exhibitions each semester, and many of our exhibitions are designed to support Visual Thinking Strategies and to augment the curricular offerings of local and regional schools.

Middlebury College students play an active role in the implementation of our programs either as interns or as members of the Museum Ambassadors Program, a group of paid docents trained to lead school tours. Students also work as receptionists who greet the public and operate the Museum Store, and they serve as voting representatives on the Committee on Art in Public Places.

There are many ways in which the Museum’s resources can support and enhance research projects. Please explore the links at left to learn more about the teaching and learning opportunities the Museum offers.
