Marna O. Davis Museum to Open in 2029
A transformative $20 million gift from the Chuck and Marna Davis Foundation moves forward plans for the 35,000-square-foot teaching museum.
Students in the Museum Associates Program train as museum educators, then host a variety of outreach events at the College’s art museum, including a visit by second graders from Mary Hogan School in Middlebury.
The wonder and awe of a visit to the art museum were not wasted on a group of enthusiastic second graders from the Mary Hogan School during a March field trip. Students in the College’s Museum Associates Program (MAP), who have been developing their skills as museum educators, led tours, presentations, and hands-on activities. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the museum’s Sarcophagus of Hathor, which stands at over five feet tall, was a big hit.
MAP students work to engage the community—school, college, and adult audiences—in dialogue about art from the museum’s permanent collection and special exhibitions. They also contribute to projects that help make the museum’s collections, exhibitions, and programs more accessible to all visitors.
For more information about the Museum Associates Program, which is open to all students, visit the MAP website.
