Grady Welsh ’24, a biology major and education studies minor, received the highly selective scholarship from the Barry Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation.
The annual award was presented during a ceremony at McCardell Bicentennial Hall on May 3.
The new award of up to $50,000 goes to human rights and education activist Joseph Kaifala, a war survivor from Sierra Leone who has worked to bring about peace and stability following years of conflict.
An environmental justice major from Worcester, Massachusetts, will join 125 other Projects for Peace grant recipients as part of this year’s cohort.
