Addison County Candidates Forum with Small Farms and Food Producers

Hosted by ACORN, Tandem and Middlebury College

This Forum provides the opportunity for small farms and local food producers in Addison County to share the issues that are currently affecting them with the candidates who are running for office in November. The candidates will have a chance to introduce themselves and their platform briefly so that the public can speak to candidates from their legislative district The purpose of the forum is to encourage a supportive environment for small food and farm businesses in Addison County.

The agenda for the two-hour meeting is as follows:
• 7:00- 7:05: Introduction to the Forum by Professor of Public Policy, Political Science & Environmental Studies Chris Klyza
• 7:05-7:15: Farm to Plate will share relevant Addison County agriculture and local food data
• 7:15-7:35: Candidates will briefly introduce themselves - who they are, their party, their platform, where they’re from (1 minute each)
• 7:40-8:10: 6 panelists representing different farming and food production sectors will speak for 5 minutes each about the issues and concerns facing their individual sector
• 8:15-9:00: Break out into district-specific round tables with candidates so the public can ask them questions
The forum will be open to the general public.
