Bios
Adam Greshin, Commissioner of Department of Finance and Management
Adam Greshin was appointed by Governor Phil Scott as the Commissioner of the Department of Finance and Management in June of 2017. Prior to his appointment, Greshin was a Representative, I-Warren, and served since 2009 in the House of Representatives, where he has worked on education, health care and tax issues. Greshin is a partner in Summit Ventures NE LLC, the owner of Sugarbush Resort, where his primary responsibilities were to oversee guest and community relations; additionally, he sits on the executive committee. Prior to his employment at Sugarbush, he worked for 16 years as a research analyst and lead portfolio manager in the global bond group at Scudder Stevens & Clark in Boston. He was educated at Bowdoin College (BA magna cum laude in romance languages and economics, 1982) and the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University (master of arts in law and diplomacy, 1984). He became a Chartered Financial Analyst in 1990. Adam is married to Anne (Cassin) Greshin and they have three children. He is a member of the Mad River Valley Rotary Club, the Mad River Valley Chamber of Commerce, and the Friends of the Mad River.
Craig Bolio, Acting Commissioner of Taxes
Craig Bolio began serving as the acting commissioner at the Vermont Department of Taxes in June of 2019. He has worked for the Department since 2011 with much of his time spent leading the team that built myVTax, the Department’s online filing site. Bolio grew up in Vermont and is a graduate of the University of Vermont. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and economics and a master’s degree in business administration. He currently lives in Essex Junction with his partner Kristen and their pets, Frankie and Sadie.
Douglas Farnham, Economist and Director of Division Policy, Outreach, and Legislative Affairs
Douglas Farnham is the economist and director of the Policy, Outreach, and Legislative Affairs Division. He has served the Department since 2011 as VTax project director, business analyst, and section chief for fiduciary taxes. Most recently he was the director of the Property Valuation and Review Division, which is responsible for the education grand list. Prior to joining the Department, Farnham served for 6 years in the U.S. Army as a military intelligence analyst and learned to speak, read, and write Mandarin Chinese. Farnham holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Vermont in Asian studies and a master’s degree in public administration from Norwich University. Originally from Marshfield, Farnham returned to Vermont in 2007 after completing his military service. He currently lives in Montpelier with his wife Marlena and their son Xavier.
