The Old Monterey Foundation, a California non-profit, public benefit corporation, was formed on February 14, 2011, with the specific mission and purpose of promoting, supporting and enhancing the artistic, cultural and historic environment of historic Downtown Monterey, California.

Since 2013, Old Monterey Foundation has continued its promotion of local history and art with the 2014 Jules Tavernier Lecture Series and the 2015 Marcia Devoe Lecture Series, and the Art in the Gardens Plein Aire event.

Thanks to the generous contribution of the Marcia DeVoe Fund, we have coordinated four lectures for our 2016 Lecture Series. The lecture on September 8th is co-sponsered by the Monterey Mueseum of Art. The event will last from 6:00pm -7:30pm followed by a reception.

Event Description:

Ami Davis on “Figurative Art on the Monterey Peninsula and Beyond”. Monterey Museum of Art Deputy Director Ami Davis will discuss how the figurative tradition in painting and photography influenced artists on the Monterey Peninsula and beyond in the Bay Area. She will present masterpieces from the Monterey Museum of Art’s collection of Monterey artists and explore their significance within the context of Western art history.
