Lecture by Sebastian Spio-Garbrah ‘02, JD on ways to predict Africa’s future.

Sebastian Spio-Garbrah, J.D., is a Global Managing Director & Chief Frontier Markets Analyst with DaMina Adivsors LLP.  He has been quoted extensively by the international media and is renowned for his accurate, and sometimes controversial ahead of-the-market calls on major political, electoral, legislative and socio-economic events throughout Africa and other geopolitical events. His analysis accurately predicted the start of the Arab Spring in late 2010 and forecasted the imminent collapse of the Nigerian banking sector in 2008.  He has advised UK Prime Minister Tony Blair’s Commission on Africa and on the presidential campaigns of several major candidates in Africa. He is an advisory board member of Jewish Heart for Africa, a charity which has provided solar technology and water purification technologies to over 300,000 African villagers. Sebastian is also the Executive Chairman of the Gordon Guggisberg Ghana-Jewish Friendship Foundation. Sebastian holds a B.A (double major) in Economics and Political Science from Middlebury College and a juris doctor (J.D) in law from Rutgers University, New Jersey. He is a Fellow of the Center for the Study of the Presidency, Washington DC.

In this lecture, Mr. Spio-Garbrah will help the audience understand the tools used to ascertain the likelihood of stability/instability in Sub-Saharan Africa.
