Students attending the Rosh Hashanah service in Mead Chapel at 7:00 p.m. are invited to dine together in Redfield Proctor dining room prior to the service. Please bring your meals from Proctor dining hall upstairs, where we’ll have tables reserved.

Last week a swastika was painted on the front door of Havurah, the Jewish community center in the town of Middlebury. Hillel will not stay silent in the face of hate and anti-Semitism. Please join us in closing the Shabbat on Saturday night on the steps of Mead Chapel with a candle lighting where we will stand in solidarity against all acts of intolerance. This event will be a space for prayer, community support, and reflection. All are welcome.

Paula Huston, a National Endowment of the Arts Fellow, is the author of two novels and seven works of spiritual nonfiction. Her short stories and essays have appeared in numerous literary journals and magazines. A former writing and literature teacher in the California State University system, she currently mentors graduate students in creative nonfiction for the Seattle Pacific MFA program. A wife, mother, and grandmother, she is an oblate, or vowed lay member, of a Camaldolese Benedictine monastic community in Big Sur, California.
