Lynsey Clark of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) will present the Fellowship opportunity for translators, terminologists and technical specialists, as well as the application process.

World Intellectual Property Organization will meet with students that are interested interested in the WIPO fellowships

The first Women in International Security (WIIS) West and MIIS collaboration meeting will provide an introduction to the organization and opportunities for students to get involved while on campus and following graduation. Joining us via Skype will be Pamela All, Treasurer and Advisory Board member at WIIS. Ms. All is a senior advisor for conflict prevention and management at the U.S. Institute of Peace (USIP) and senior fellow at the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI).

“Getting it Right—Finding your Work/Life Balance” Guest Speaker: Jolynn Shoemaker Jolynn Shoemaker is a recognized peace and security policy thinker, global women’s leadership expert, and experienced non-profit leader. She consults to non-profit organizations, with a specific focus on women, peace, and security and peacebuilding and serves on boards and in advisory capacities of several non-profit organizations and groups, including the Advisory Committee for the West Coast chapter of WIIS (WIIS-West).

“Another look at SCR 1325 on Women, Peace and Security: Promises Met and Promises Deferred” Guest Speaker, Dr. Bob Zuber Dr. Robert Zuber is director of UN-based Global Action to Prevent War and Armed Conflict and the Project for a UN Emergency Peace Service where he directs a team of researchers, advocates and policy professionals monitoring all facets of the UN’s work.

As you prepare for your event, make sure to fill out the events logistics form at least 2 weeks in advance to request any Media Service or Campus Service support at: http://www.miis.edu/events/plan/logistics All users of MIIS venues are expected to leave the venue and its equipment in good order, which includes chairs and tables straightened, electronic equipment shut off, and properly disposing of everything one came in with, such as soda and food containers, newspapers, etc.

Verbal Ink is a company that provides transcription, translation, and writing services. They will be presenting their work for recruiting purposes. Students from TI and TLM, both years, are welcome to participate.
